Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on engineer with a strong combination of systems engineering, software development, infrastructure, and technical implementation experience.
The candidate will develop software components, configure and deploy systems, integrate applications, and resolve technical challenges across infrastructure and application layers. The role requires the ability to move between coding, system administration, deployment, and implementation based on business and technical requirements.
The ideal candidate is a practical problem-solver who can work independently, understand complex technical environments, and take ownership of solutions from development through deployment and ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities
1. Systems Engineering and Infrastructure
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers and application environments.
- Manage cloud infrastructure, virtual machines, networking, DNS, firewalls, and SSL/TLS configurations.
- Diagnose system-level issues involving resource utilization, connectivity, permissions, and application availability.
- Maintain system reliability, performance, security, and operational stability.
- Automate routine administrative and infrastructure tasks wherever possible.
2. Software Development
- Develop, maintain, and debug software using Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Build backend services, REST APIs, scripts, and automation utilities.
- Work with databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL, for application development and troubleshooting.
- Understand existing codebases, identify defects, implement fixes, and develop new functionality.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following established engineering practices.
3. Deployment and DevOps
- Deploy and manage applications using Docker and container-based environments.
- Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
- Manage Git-based development workflows, application configurations, environment variables, and deployment processes.
- Troubleshoot build failures, runtime errors, failed deployments, and service interruptions.
- Implement monitoring, logging, backup, recovery, and operational procedures.
4. System Integration and Forward Deployed Engineering
- Translate business and operational requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Integrate software applications with third-party APIs, databases, services, and external systems.
- Configure and deploy solutions across different infrastructure and operating environments.
- Work directly with stakeholders to understand requirements, investigate issues, and validate implementations.
- Adapt existing software and develop supporting components to address real-world technical challenges.
- Collect implementation feedback and work with engineering teams to improve product functionality and reliability.
5. Troubleshooting and Technical Ownership
- Investigate and resolve issues across application, infrastructure, database, and network layers.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Take ownership of technical issues from initial investigation through resolution and verification.
- Document system configurations, integrations, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Identify opportunities to improve automation, maintainability, security, and system performance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, software development, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or a combination of these disciplines.
- Strong hands-on programming skills in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Practical experience administering and troubleshooting Linux environments.
- Understanding of backend applications, REST APIs, databases, and software integration.
- Experience with Docker, Git, and application deployment workflows.
- Working knowledge of AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, ports, firewalls, and SSL/TLS.
- Experience with SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Experience with monitoring, centralized logging, and performance troubleshooting.
- Exposure to Kubernetes, distributed systems, background workers, or message queues.
- Experience implementing integrations with external platforms and APIs.
- Familiarity with AI/ML application deployment or LLM-based systems.
- Experience working in environments that require direct technical implementation and stakeholder interaction.
Expected Competencies
- Hands-on engineering: Comfortable writing code, working with servers, and debugging applications.
- Systems thinking: Understands how software, infrastructure, networking, and databases interact.
- Execution and ownership: Can take a problem from investigation to implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Adaptability: Able to work across different technologies and technical environments.
- Communication: Can explain technical issues clearly and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
- Practical decision-making: Focuses on reliable, maintainable solutions rather than unnecessary complexity.
