The listing
This is an enterprise transformation role for an executive who sets direction with the senior leadership team while staying close enough to the architecture and delivery work to resolve difficult decisions. The successful candidate will have led large, multi-year data center and cloud transformations in complex global enterprises, protecting service continuity while building a secure, financially disciplined cloud operation.
Reporting and scope
The SVP reports to the Chief Cloud & Data Modernization Officer and leads a dedicated team spanning architecture, engineering, operations, migration delivery, and program management. Scope includes Acxiom’s data centers, infrastructure, enterprise and client-facing applications, data and analytics workloads, vendor relationships, and the teams and processes required to run a multi-cloud estate.
Key responsibilities:
Set the transformation strategy
- Establish the target state and a sequenced, multi-year plan for data center modernization, workload migration, application modernization, and facility exit.
- Build the business case with senior leadership and drive fast, evidence-based workload disposition decisions (retire, rehost, replatform, refactor, replace).
- Define workload placement principles across AWS, Azure, and GCP that align with Acxiom’s product, data, AI, client, and privacy requirements.
Lead execution
- Own the integrated roadmap, funding, governance, and executive reporting, holding internal teams and partners accountable for business outcomes.
- Sequence migration waves by dependencies, data gravity, business criticality, readiness, and risk, with measurable targets.
- Protect service quality and client commitments, ensuring every wave includes tested rollback, disaster recovery, observability, and operational readiness.
Build the multi-cloud foundation
- Build a secure foundation across AWS, Azure, and GCP spanning identity, networking, policy, encryption, observability, resilience, and automated provisioning.
- Partner with Acxiom’s Product Automation team to drive infrastructure as code, policy as code, CI/CD, container platforms, and platform engineering practices.
- Set standards for cloud-native architecture that modernize without forcing unnecessary rewrites, accounting for performance, data residency, portability, provider concentration, and total cost of ownership.
Modernize data and AI platforms
- Partner with data, product, analytics, and AI leaders to move data analytics platforms and machine learning workloads to appropriate cloud architectures.
- Establish governance for data movement, lineage, quality, access, privacy, and model operations, creating a foundation for production AI without weakening security, reliability, or cost controls.
Protect Acxiom and its clients
- Build security, privacy, resilience, and regulatory compliance into architecture and delivery from the start, working with security, legal, privacy, and risk leaders to translate obligations into enforceable controls.
- Protect sensitive consumer and client data throughout migration and give clients and auditors clear evidence of control effectiveness.
Measures of success
- Delivery against migration waves, financial commitments, and data center exit or consolidation milestones.
- Reduction in legacy infrastructure, technical debt, and stranded contracts, with legacy assets verifiably decommissioned.
- Cloud cost and unit-cost performance against the approved business case.
- Improved availability, security, and audit readiness, with stable client service throughout migration.
- Stronger internal cloud, platform, data, and reliability engineering capability.
Required qualifications
- Significant executive leadership experience in enterprise infrastructure, cloud, data platforms, or technology transformation.
- Direct accountability for at least one large, multi-year data center modernization or exit, leading across business units, vendors, and geographies.
- Executive-level knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP and modern platform engineering (containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability).
- Experience modernizing enterprise data architecture, including batch and real-time processing, analytics platforms, and AI/ML infrastructure.
- Strong command of cloud economics, transformation business cases, vendor negotiations, budgets, and FinOps.
- Experience with cloud security, privacy, resilience, compliance, and audit in an environment that manages sensitive data.
- Record of building senior teams, leading through organizational resistance, and communicating clearly with the board, executives, clients, and engineers.
Preferred qualifications
- Transformation leadership at large global consumer, retail, marketing, data services, or similarly complex enterprises with high-volume data processing and material privacy obligations.
- Experience structuring partnerships with all three major cloud providers and managing systems integrators without transferring accountability to them.
- Prior experience in the marketing agency business or an understanding of its products, clients, operating environment, and culture.
