Working onboard offshore support vessels and offshore wind turbines on a rotational basis, you will perform electrical testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and safety-critical operations.

You will take responsibility for leading a team of technicians, carrying out high-voltage switching operations, and ensuring compliance with electrical safety procedures, risk assessments, and technical documentation. This role offers the opportunity to develop advanced technical expertise through structured training and mentoring, with a focus on commissioning and progression towards autonomous offshore service responsibilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead offshore teams in the installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, maintenance, and fault rectification of LV and HV electrical systems on wind turbines.
  • Execute and supervise commissioning activities in accordance with approved procedures, risk assessments, and GE Vernova safety standards.
  • Work across key electrical systems, including power converters, transformers, HV/LV switchgear, circuit breakers, protection systems, and LV control systems.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications to ensure correct system configuration.
  • Support energization, functional testing, and handover activities, ensuring accurate commissioning documentation, test records, and non-conformance reports.
  • Diagnose LV and HV electrical faults using appropriate test equipment and systematic root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical support teams to resolve complex issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with GE Vernova and industry electrical safety standards, including switching, electrical isolations, and control of work within authorized limits.
  • Conduct task-specific risk assessments and toolbox talks to ensure safe execution of offshore activities.
  • Supervise and mentor Electrical Technicians, promote consistent technical standards, and drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and procedural feedback.

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)

  • Electrical or Wind Technician apprenticeship, diploma, or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience with LV/HV electrical systems, including 11 kV and 33 kV switching, and HVWP1 City & Guilds certification or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in commissioning, electrical service, or field activities within wind or comparable industrial environments, including electrical testing and fault diagnosis.
  • Ability to lead technical teams, interpret electrical drawings and schematics, and apply protection systems, commissioning procedures, and electrical safety rules.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English. Around C1 or Native level

What will make you stand out

  • Experience leading offshore electrical commissioning teams in wind, oil and gas, or marine HV environments, including HV switching up to 72 kV and working within MV/HV authorization frameworks.
  • Strong technical judgment, safety awareness, and ability to lead and develop technicians while coordinating effectively with engineering and technical support teams.
  • Commitment to procedural compliance and continuous improvement, with additional certifications in HV safety, electrical authorization, or electrical technician qualifications.

Where and how you'll work

  • This is a permanent position based in Spain, supporting the Dogger Bank Offshore Wind Farm in the North Sea, UK.
  • You will work offshore onboard support vessels and wind turbines on a rotational schedule of 14 days on duty followed by 14 days off. Accommodation and meals are provided onboard during your rotation.
