The listing

We're looking for a Social Media Contractor to execute campaigns and publish content across Major League’s Hacking social media channels: MLH accounts, DEV accounts, brand-owned podcast and event accounts (during prime calendar windows).

You'll turn the energy of our events and the achievements of our community into content that informs, inspires, and grows our audience. This is a hands-on role for someone who can collaborate and execute on our content calendar in one hour, and cut a Short or reply to a founder in our mentions the next.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate and execute on our content calendar across all MLH social channels including LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Instagram, Discord, Facebook, and YouTube. Familiarity with Bluesky & Threads are a plus.

  • Create and publish platform-native content: posts, graphics, short-form video, and community highlights

  • Track, surface, and proactively engage with community and global social media trends

  • Grow and engage our audience of student developers, alumni, sponsors, and partners

  • Cover live events, capturing and sharing the hackathon experience in real time

  • Track performance and pull campaign data as needed

  • Partner with the content, marketing, and programs teams to keep messaging aligned

  • 2-6 years managing social media for a brand, community, or organization

  • Experience working with an organization as a social media contractor

  • Strong writing skills and a feel for adapting voice to different platforms

  • Hands-on experience with short-form video and graphic/visual content design in Figma or Adobe Suite

  • Comfort with social analytics and turning metrics into decisions

  • Familiarity with the developer, tech, or startup world (bonus: you've been to a hackathon)

  • Self-directed, organized, and able to move quickly across multiple channels

Compensation, Hours and Location

  • Hourly rate: $45 - $55

  • Weekly commitment: ~20 hours

  • Location: Remote role, must be US-based

  • Our co-founders, Swift and Jon, were recognized for their work in education by Forbes in the 2017 30 Under 30 list.

  • We work with some of the top technology brands like Google Gemini, ElevenLabs, Cloudflare, and more, to help them reach our community and get the latest and greatest tools into their hands.

  • We have a group of world-class investors including General Catalyst, Alexis Ohanian (Reddit), Jeff Lawson (Twilio), and Sundance DiGiovanni (Major League Gaming).
