About Sumble
Sales teams don't need more contacts, they need more context. Sumble shows go-to-market teams what's happening inside the accounts they sell to: the technologies they use, the teams and people behind them, and the projects they're investing in. We turn public, traceable evidence into account intelligence that helps go-to-market teams size markets, build territories, prioritize accounts, and reach the right people with a useful point of view.
Customers like Snowflake, Figma, Elastic, Wiz and Vercel rely on us, and we've raised $38.5M from Coatue and Canaan. Now, we're building the marketing function to match the product, and you'll be a foundational hire on that team.
Why this role matters now
Sumble reaches customers through the web app, our API, CRM integrations, and an MCP server that lets AI agents work directly with Sumble data. Every one of those paths needs to be measured, tested, and grown. Today that work is split across the team. This seat brings it under one owner.
This is a core seat on the new marketing team. We want an engineer-minded marketer who treats growth as a system: you'll design the experiments, work closely with product and engineering, and decide with data what to scale and what to kill.
It's a senior individual contributor role with no direct reports, and we're hiring it that way on purpose. You'll have full ownership of the growth number, a real budget for paid media and tools, and the authority to change what doesn't work.
Our team
We're a team of over 40 across product, design, engineering, data science, marketing, customer success, and sales, with experience at companies such as Google, Meta, Stack Overflow and Snowflake. You'll work alongside our marketing leads for Campaigns & Experiences, Product Marketing and Content, and closely with Sales, RevOps, Product and Engineering.
What you'll own
Product's mirror
- Sit in roadmap and planning discussions as the voice of the market. Challenge what we build, and why, with evidence from customers, deals, competitors and Sumble's own data.
- Stay ahead of the market. Track how GTM teams, data vendors and agent-era tools are changing, and write the memos that tell Product and the founders what that means for us.
- Run win/loss and buyer research, and bring the findings back in a form Product and Sales can act on.
Positioning and launches
- Own Sumble's positioning and messaging architecture, from the one-line answer to "what is Sumble" down to the proof points for each capability.
- Own how we tell the shift from contacts to context: account intelligence and signals that both people and agents can act on.
- Run launches end to end: tiering, messaging, assets, internal readiness, and post-launch measurement. Partner with Product and Engineering early so launches are shaped by the market, not announced after the fact.
- Own launch and feature awareness. Make sure existing users and prospects actually know what shipped, working with Growth on lifecycle and in-product moments and with Content on the story.
JTBD and solutions
- Turn our jobs-to-be-done work into solutions for each core buyer:
- RevOps: territory and TAM planning, account scoring, enrichment and CRM hygiene.
- GTM engineers: API, MCP and agent workflows built on Sumble data.
- Marketers: targeting, account selection and signal-driven programs.
- Package each solution end to end: the problem, the use case, the demo path, the proof, and the assets Sales and Marketing pull from.
- Keep the message honest and evidence-backed. No black boxes: say where the data comes from and why it's right.
Competitive
- Own competitive intelligence across data vendors, intent platforms and agent-era tools.
- Build and maintain battle cards that reps actually use, and update Sales when the landscape moves.
- Join live deals where competition decides the outcome, and feed what you learn back into positioning.
Third-party market insights and analyst relations
- Own Sumble's relationships with industry analysts and third-party research voices: briefings, inquiries, and how Sumble shows up in their coverage.
- Bring outside market data and research into how we position Sumble, and make sure our own data story holds up next to it.
Requirements
Must-haves
- 6+ years of B2B product marketing, ideally in GTM tech: data, sales tech, RevOps platforms, or developer and AI tooling sold to technical buyers.
- You've owned positioning for a technical product and can explain an API, an MCP server or a data model in terms a CRO cares about, while staying precise enough for the RevOps lead who will actually use it.
- A track record of launches that moved adoption and pipeline, and you can show how you measured it.
- You've pushed back on a roadmap with evidence and changed what got built.
- Segment thinking. You've built distinct solutions for different personas without fragmenting the story.
- You've run a competitive program that Sales relied on.
- Data-curious to a fault. You'll use Sumble's platform as a research tool, and comfort with raw data is non-negotiable.
- Demonstrated AI fluency in real production workflows: concrete examples of work you shipped faster or better because of your AI stack.
- A Super IC operating style. You prioritize ruthlessly and make calls without waiting for permission.
Nice-to-haves
- Hands-on with agents, MCP and Claude or Cursor, and able to build a simple demo from our docs yourself.
- Experience with analyst relations or third-party research programs.
- You've been a RevOps lead, GTM engineer or marketer yourself, or sold to them for years.
- Experience orchestrating consultants, agencies and freelancers to extend output.
How we work
- AI is part of how everyone at Sumble works. We expect you to keep experimenting with new tools and share what's working so the whole team gets better.
- Small team, a lot of ownership. You'll take problems from open-ended to shipped and have direct conversations instead of waiting on approval chains.
- No black boxes. We make it clear where our data comes from. Your reporting should be held to the same standard.
- We dogfood. Our own GTM should be the best example of Sumble in production.
- Builders over briefers. We'd rather see the prototype than the deck.
Our hiring process includes a practical project.
