Role Overview
We’re looking for a Senior 3D Generalist Artist to work on a Simulation Game. You’ll work closely with a small, multidisciplinary team to build imaginative and replayable simulation games that serve a distinct genre audience and connect with players.
Key Responsibilities
1 - Create Game-Ready Art
You’ll mainly be working on modular environments, props, set dressing and character / creature work
Success looks like:
- Understanding our art ethos and working autonomously with high level direction
- Grasping the project art style and adapting quickly
- Understanding how to construct modular environments and working to a grid
- Rapid output by focusing on getting the core elements right rather than superficial details
2 - Be a Force Multiplayer, Not Just an Asset Maker
There’s more to it than just creating assets, it’s about being an invaluable team member.
Success looks like:
- Communicating and collaborating with the team. Nurturing the synergy between disciplines and problem solving the gaps in-between
- Joining playtests and contributing to the game experience beyond art
- Identifying risks and constraints early and redirecting effort when needed
- Being pro-active and moving the project forward, even if you’re waiting for feedback or currently blocked, you know how to identify meaningful work to keep momentum
3 - Implement Assets in Engine
You’re not just handing off art assets, you’re implementing them in-engine.
Success looks like:
- Importing, setting up and hooking up assets
- Correctly handling setup for materials, prefabs, folders and naming etc
- Fixing materials, collision and general art bugs in engine
- Spotting inefficiencies and offering better solutions
- Keeping assets and scenes well optimized without sacrificing the game’s vision
Requirements
- Senior experience level. Comfortable working autonomously with high level direction, championing your area of responsibility.
- Broad artistic & technical skillset: Environments, props, characters / creatures.
- Confident in Unreal Engine; asset implementation and fixing art bugs.
- Happy to prioritize speed & efficiency.
- Project first mindset: Our games look good but we’re not trying to win art awards or build stunning portfolio pieces. The experience is king.
- General understanding of supporting optimization and performance for single player and online multiplayer titles (from an art POV).
- Bonus skills: Rigging, VFX, UI, Tech Art skills, Concept Art
Please Note: This is a full-time, remote-working position, open to anyone within the UK & Europe.
Benefits
Our benefits include a 2-week company summer break and a 2-week winter break to rest and recharge, in addition to your normal holiday allowance.
