The listing
Ambition has no passport. That belief is why LemFi exists. We're the financial engine for people the world wasn't built to serve, the millions who move countries to build something better and find the financial system hasn't caught up with them yet. We started with remittances: the money people send home to the people they love. Now we run multi-currency accounts, Savings, eSIMs and Credit. Because staying connected to home and building somewhere new are not two separate things. They never were.
About the role
LemFi moves over $2B a month for 2M+ customers across 30+ countries. Canada is a core corridor, and the person in this seat is the most senior compliance voice in the country. You own the AML programme end to end, hold the FINTRAC relationship, and are the designated compliance officer on the Canada entity's books.
This is a fully remote role that reports to the Canada entity Board of Directors and the Global Head of Compliance. You will be the primary expert on the RPAA as it comes into force, manage banking and payments partner obligations, and represent LemFi with regulators and law enforcement. There is real scope here: you are building and maintaining something that matters, not inheriting a finished programme.
What you'll build and own
Own and maintain the Canada AML compliance programme, keeping it aligned with LemFi's global AML policy, FINTRAC requirements, and provincial regulations
Become LemFi's internal RPAA expert: develop the RPAA programme from the ground up and champion implementation across the business
Hold the FINTRAC relationship directly, manage MSB registration renewals, and lead regulatory and independent AML audits in Canada
Submit and oversee all regulatory filings: STRs, UARs, EFTOs, EFTIs, and any ad hoc reports required by regulators or banking partners
Maintain and develop relationships with Canadian banking and payments partners, fulfilling partner obligations including periodic reports and cooperative filings
Develop and maintain the regional AML risk assessment, identify key risk indicators, and brief the Board, CCO North America, and senior leadership on the programme's health
Guide compliance staff on Canada-specific responsibilities and engage cross-functionally wherever the global compliance team needs your expertise
Your experience
At least 3 years in a senior or management compliance role at a Canada-based fintech or financial institution
Direct, hands-on experience with FINTRAC: regulatory communications, MSB registration, and licensing or registration renewals
Deep working knowledge of Canadian federal AML obligations under PCMLTFA, including STR, UAR, and EFTO/EFTI reporting
Familiarity with the RPAA and a clear view of what compliance with it requires in practice
Experience leading or managing regulatory or independent AML audits, including preparing documentation and responding to examiner findings
Track record of managing banking or payments partner relationships, including fulfilling partner-driven compliance obligations
Strong written and verbal communication: you can translate complex regulatory requirements into clear policy, and brief a Board or regulator with equal confidence
Nice to have
CAMS certification or an equivalent recognised AML qualification
Experience operating within a multi-entity, multi-corridor compliance structure
Exposure to cross-border payments or remittance-specific risk typologies
