The Opportunity
As a Research Consultant on our Consulting Services team, you’ll act as a trusted research expert, helping our customers gain high-quality insights and deliver them to their organization via UserTesting. You’ll play a key role in guiding customers through research best practices, methodologies, scalable approaches, and platform capabilities, ensuring they can independently run research that delivers actionable insights and has a direct impact on decision making.
This role is ideal for someone who is analytical, consultative, and passionate about user research, with a strong ability to translate complex research methods into practical, scalable approaches. You’ll work closely with customers, internal account teams, and cross-functional partners to support research initiatives that drive customer success and UserTesting adoption.
We’re looking for a collaborative, detail-oriented researcher who’s excited about mentoring customers, leading training programs, and helping organizations embed human insights into their decision-making process.
Responsibilities
- Lead onboarding programs to enable customers in understanding the basics of the UserTesting platform, and closely monitor completion of those programs
- Act as a trusted advisor, guiding customers through the execution of research studies, methodologies, and best practices
- Plan, support, and eventually lead more in-depth workshops on research execution, scaling research, measuring KPIs, and research operations
- Support customers in building effective research studies, ensuring appropriate methodologies, participant targeting, and high-quality analysis
- Provide consultative guidance on how to analyze research findings, synthesize insights, and present impactful recommendations
- Help customers operationalize and scale research, embedding UserTesting into their workflows and improving research efficiency
- Partner with internal account teams (Customer Success, Sales, and Product) to support customer retention and growth through research maturity
- Proactively identify customer needs and challenges, tailoring recommendations to improve their research practices
- Contribute to internal initiatives that enhance consulting frameworks, resources, and research methodologies
Requirements
- BA/BS or MA/MS in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Sociology, or a related field — or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience in user experience research or research consulting
- A consultative problem-solving approach, with the ability to guide customers toward solutions
- Understanding of UX research’s impact on business decisions, with the ability to help customers demonstrate research ROI
- Strong knowledge of UX research methods, including usability testing, click testing, card sorting, tree testing, moderated interviews, and concept testing
- Experience embedding research across different stages of the product development lifecycle
- Familiarity with remote research and usability testing platforms (UserTesting, UserZoom, or similar tools)
- Strong communication, storytelling, and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex research concepts for diverse audiences
- Ability to coach and educate customers on research methodologies, best practices, and platform usage
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously
- Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively with customers, internal teams, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Comfortable in a fast-paced consulting environment, balancing multiple priorities and customer engagements
- Adaptable and proactive, willing to learn, iterate, and improve consulting approaches over time
- Familiarity with information repository platforms such as EnjoyHQ or Dovetail is a plus
- Occasional travel required (5–10%) for customer engagements, workshops, or training sessions
