Requirements
Experience Needed/Responsibilities:
- Proven experience in SEO, email marketing and SMS marketing, with the ability to step in and contribute immediately with no learning curve
- Maintains and grows the company’s SEO and AIO presence for a California-based cannabis contract manufacturer
- Builds a couple of new SEO pages per week by following an existing service-by-location page structure, matching layout and word count across seven core services and California locations
- Brings new SEO ideas to the table, such as backlink strategies and keyword targeting beyond the core terms
- Builds and sends email campaigns weekly, tracking the engagement rates and testing and improving different campaigns
- Writes campaigns focused on brand awareness and driving prospects to book a call with the production team
- Launches roughly one SMS campaign per week, including testing new ideas like referral-focused campaigns
- A/B tests subject lines, content and send times on an ongoing basis
- Tracks and reports on open rates, click rates and campaign performance, and recommends improvements based on the data
- Works independently with minimal oversight and proactively suggests new ideas
Good to have:
- Strong email design skills and experience building visually polished campaigns
- Experience creating images and graphics in Canva
- Experience writing and running campaigns end to end, from copy to content to launch
- Leadership mindset and comfort owning the marketing function as a strategic co-thinker
- Background in the cannabis industry, co-packing or contract manufacturing
- Experience with link building and proper SEO sourcing
- Experience in B2B marketing where the goal is booking calls rather than direct product sales
Non-negotiable Requirements:
- Highly responsive and over-communicative
- Autonomous, creative problem solver who thinks strategically rather than just following instructions
- Data-driven, with a habit of proactive A/B testing and regular reporting on results
Industry/Tools Experience:
- Klaviyo
- SMS platforms such as TextUs or SimpleTexting
- Canva
- Google Docs
- SEO and website page building
- Cannabis, co-packing or contract manufacturing is a plus
