About the Team
Our Global Workforce Enablement team leads company-wide global mobility and immigration strategy, moving exceptional talent across borders and enabling OpenAI’s mission to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. We partner closely with Recruiting, Legal, HR, and external vendor partners to deliver a seamless immigration experience.
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Global Immigration Business Partner to provide maternity leave coverage from November 2026 through June 30, 2027. In this contractor role, you’ll help maintain continuity across our global immigration programs, serving as a primary advisor to Recruiting, Legal, and business stakeholders across the U.S., EMEA, and APAC.
You’ll bring a strong mix of strategic insight and operational discipline, guiding candidates and employees through complex immigration processes, managing vendor performance, and resolving sensitive or urgent issues. You’ll work within our established programs while identifying practical improvements to processes, communications, and tooling.
You’ll be supported on day-to-day execution by regional specialists, but should be comfortable stepping in directly when needed to keep cases and priorities moving. This role requires someone who can ramp up quickly, exercise sound judgment, and provide consistent support throughout the coverage period.
This position reports to the Head of Global Workforce Enablement based in San Francisco.
Your Responsibilities
Serve as a primary partner to Recruiting, Legal, and HR teams on immigration matters across the U.S., APAC, and EMEA, with support for other regions as needed.
Manage the relationship with our immigration vendor to ensure timely, high-quality support and address service issues or escalations.
Support immigration specialists on the team, coordinating workloads, providing guidance on complex cases, and partnering on timely resolution of escalations.
Guide candidates, employees, and hiring teams through immigration options and timelines, anticipating risks and triaging urgent cases.
Maintain continuity across ongoing cases and program initiatives, ensuring clear ownership, documentation, and follow-through.
