This is not a job for everyone. We hold an extremely high bar because we believe talent density is our biggest competitive advantage. We're looking for people who actively choose hard, ambiguous problems, who run toward unglamorous work, give and receive candid feedback, and bring relentless resilience without the ego. Our work is important, but we are not self-important. We do this because we’re solving one of the hardest problems in the world, and the problem matters. If that's you, we disproportionately reward it.
About the Role
As Medical Director, you will lead the clinical team of physicians and advanced practice providers who deliver care within our practice, owning the systems and processes that enable them to deliver excellent care as we scale. This is a new role that will be critical to growing our provider base while maintaining high clinical quality.
In this role, you will develop and scale the medical team: hiring and directly managing the performance of frontline clinicians, all while building a collaborative clinical culture people want to stay in. You’ll partner closely with our Head of Dietetics to drive great cross-provider type experience and care. You'll be the clinical voice in cross-functional work with Product, Data, and Operations, ensuring what we build reflects the realities of delivering care, especially when it comes to our Provider product and experience. And you'll help crack one of the most important questions in medicine today: how to balance the best of AI with the irreplaceably human core of great care.
This person will report into our Chief Medical Officer, owning the performance management of our Nourish medical clinicians, and work closely with the Clinical Strategy team on protocol development, quality standards, and care model design, as well as with Product, Data, and Operations. You'll be a key member of the clinical leadership team, helping shape how Nourish delivers high-quality metabolic care at scale.
This role is full-time and open to NYC-based or remote candidates. Our office is located in Gramercy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scale and lead the Nourish Medical clinical team while maintaining high-quality care, owning supervision of the physician and APP team
- Build the engine for clinical quality management, using metrics and analytical rigor to drive top-tier performance through technology, process, and coaching.
- Champion the interdisciplinary care model, partnering closely with dietitians, therapists, and eventually other provider types to define how disciplines work together
- Support the cross-functional loop with Product and Operations to translate what you see on the clinical front line into process and product that make care better for every patient across the provider- and patient-facing products.
- Provide direct clinical care to patients on the Nourish platform, managing a part-time clinical load.
- Shape where Nourish Medical goes next, including new visit types, new provider types, entire new service lines, and build the clinical foundation that makes that expansion possible.
We’d love to hear from you if:
- You have 6–10+ years of experience after medical school, with a mix of strong clinical practice and operational/analytical work. Time spent in consulting, finance, or a startup is a plus.
- You're an excellent clinician. You're fluent in the medical management of cardiometabolic disease and you hold yourself to a high bar.
- You've managed clinicians before and you can hold both ends of it. You’re not afraid of the hard 1:1 when it's needed, and you can zoom out and build the quality management structure that keeps a scaled clinical team performing.
- You're savvy with data and use it to make decisions, and you know how to weigh the quantitative against the qualitative.
- You bring humility and warmth, and you build trust easily across a growing multidisciplinary team. You are the kind of leader clinicians want to work for and cross-functional partners want to work with.
- You're biased toward action, with the judgment to know where speed improves vs. detracts from excellent care.
- You think fluidly across people, systems, and technology, understanding how and when to lean on each lens. You’re a first-principles thinker and can take an idea from 0 to implementation.
