Role Requirement
As a Technology Consultant, you will drive the development and integration of monitoring and management solutions to enhance system efficiency. You will leverage your strong telecom engineering and networking background, alongside an aptitude for learning monitoring and management toolsets, to build and manage advanced automation workflows. Your primary focus will be assisting in configuration and testing of management and monitoring tools, creation of documentation, building and maintaining workflow integrations to streamline operations and resolve complex network challenges for TELUS and our customers.
What you’ll do
Configure, test, optimize and manage management & monitoring tools for TELUS Managed Services.
Assist with the configuration, changes, updates, and deployment of new use cases for our monitoring and management platforms.
Perform routine development & maintenance to ensure seamless communication between our workflows and underlying data systems.
Collaborate with network engineers, business analysts, and architects to translate managed services requirements into actionable automation workflows.
Administer and configure core network infrastructure, including routers, firewalls, and Infoblox solutions, across the TELUS Managed Services environment.
Build and maintain Automation workflows that reduce repeated tasks across the TELUS Managed Services environment.
Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to a team of technology professionals working on TELUS Managed Services.
What you bring
Recognized for your strong foundation in telecom engineering and network operations, combined with hands-on automation experience.
Ability and willingness to quickly learn and master enterprise toolsets.
Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (ScienceLogic, IBM SevOne, Zabbix, etc.)
Hands-on experience with ITSM toolsets (ServiceNow, BMC Remedy/Helix ITSM, etc.)
Skilled at translating network strategies, architectures, and NOC workflows into automated solutions.
Advanced knowledge of internetworking technologies and multiple network protocols (i.e. IP networking, Firewall, Gigabit Ethernet, MPLS/VPN, QoS, Cloud based Services).
Knowledge of monitoring protocols (SNMP, Syslog, API, webhooks, telemetry)
Hands-on experience with programming languages, API integrations, Linux/Windows environments, virtualization, and containerized platforms.
Adept at balancing priorities effectively while handling multiple projects simultaneously.
Possesses in-depth understanding of telecom industry trends, NOC operations, and emerging AI technologies.
Experience in serving as a technical lead on automation/development projects.
5+ years of experience as a telecom engineer, network developer, or systems administrator in a communications service provider or solution provider organization.
Bachelor/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computing Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent.
Great-to-haves
Government of Canada Security Clearance (Level 2 Secret)
Deep knowledge of Software Development and advanced Machine Learning concepts
Knowledge of Cloud Platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS)
Knowledge of GitHub and Terraform
Industry Certifications in AI, Cloud (GCP), or Networking (Cisco/Juniper/Palo Alto)
Knowledge of ITSM systems (Incident, Problem and Change management, CMDB, ServiceNow)
