The Opportunity 🚀

Carrot is expanding its telemedicine clinic with a network of part-time to full-time, fully remote Registered Nurses who deliver evidence-based virtual care to members across all U.S. states. As an RN in this network, you are often the first clinical touchpoint for members navigating fertility, menopause, hormonal, and metabolic health journeys, providing triage, education, care coordination, and documentation that shape the entire care experience.

All work in this role is performed within RN scope of practice. RNs provide triage, education, care coordination, and documentation; they do not diagnose, do not prescribe, and do not independently modify a treatment plan. Anything requiring clinical judgment beyond RN scope is routed to a physician, so sound escalation judgment is central to the role.

This is a contractor engagement of approximately 20-40 hours per week, with scheduled shifts within the Monday-Friday, 8:00a-6:00p CST coverage window.

What You’ll Own 💼

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the first clinical reviewer of inbound member messages, triaging for urgency, escalating to a physician when needed, and routing non-clinical threads to the appropriate support team.
  • Deliver member education on menopause staging, hormone therapy, preconception health, metabolic health, and medication administration.
  • Review and triage incoming lab results, escalate critical findings per protocol, retrieve outside records, and coordinate specialist referrals.
  • Manage pharmacy callbacks and prior authorizations in coordination with the care team.
  • Document all clinically relevant interactions same-day, create tracked internal tasks with named owners, and follow established escalation pathways.
  • Maintain active NLC multi-state licensure, complete required credentialing and onboarding, and adhere to HIPAA, continuing education, and liability coverage requirements.
  • Contribute to chart audits and clinical protocol feedback as the telemedicine program scales.

What Success Looks Like  📈

In your first 12–18 months, you will have:

  • Established a consistent record of accurate, protocol-aligned triage with appropriate physician escalation and no missed critical lab values.
  • Maintained same-day documentation and timely lab follow-up, with no outstanding credentialing or compliance gaps.
  • Delivered high-quality member education across menopause, preconception, hormone therapy, and metabolic health topics, reflected in strong member experience results.
  • Managed care coordination workflows reliably within your coverage window, including referrals, records retrieval, prior authorizations, and pharmacy callbacks.
  • Contributed to chart audits, protocol feedback, and quality improvement as the telemedicine program scales.

About You

You likely have:

  • An active, unrestricted RN license with NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact) multi-state privileges, in good standing, plus an ADN or BSN from an accredited program (BSN preferred).
  • A minimum of 3 years of active RN clinical experience, with meaningful experience in women's health, reproductive health, OB/GYN, fertility, endocrinology, or menopause care.
  • Demonstrated nurse triage experience, including assessing urgency, applying protocol, escalating appropriately, and recognizing critical lab values.
  • A clear understanding of RN scope of practice and sound judgment about when to escalate.
  • Strong written communication for asynchronous messaging and a strong phone presence for symptom assessment and instruction.
  • Proficiency with EHR and telehealth systems, secure messaging, and e-fax workflows.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and applicable telemedicine privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • The ability to commit to scheduled shifts within the Monday-Friday, 8:00a-6:00p CST coverage window, with a HIPAA-compliant, private home workspace and reliable internet.

Nice to Have

While not required, we would be especially excited if you bring:

  • Experience in a dedicated menopause clinic, fertility center, REI practice, or comparable specialty program.
  • Familiarity with preconception and fertility workup, including AMH and hormone panels, ovulation tracking, and cycle-monitoring labs.
  • Hormone therapy education experience, including prior authorization workflows.
  • Experience supporting members on anti-obesity medications, including GLP-1 receptor agonists.
  • Prior experience in digital health, health benefits, or multi-state telemedicine environments.
  • Experience contributing to clinical protocol development, quality improvement, or member-facing clinical content.
  • Experience supporting diverse and historically underserved populations, including LGBTQ+ and gender-diverse individuals.
  • Relevant certification (e.g., MSCP through The Menopause Society, RNC-OB) and/or fluency in an additional language.

Why This Role Matters 🧡

Carrot's RN network is the front line of the telemedicine clinic. RNs are typically the first clinician a member reaches, and the quality of their triage judgment, education, and follow-through directly determines member safety, trust, and the experience of care during some of the most personal moments of members' lives.

This role also keeps the clinical program running well as it scales. Reliable triage, same-day documentation, and disciplined escalation protect physician capacity for the decisions that require it, while expanding access to guideline-aligned fertility, menopause, and metabolic health support for members who often cannot find it locally.
