About finmid

At finmid, we’re building infrastructure that integrates access to capital for SMEs directly into the platforms they use daily. We leverage technology, data, and strategic partnerships to deliver financing solutions that significantly outperform traditional financial services - offering SMEs faster, simpler, and more transparent access to funding.

As we expand across Europe, our Latvian subsidiary, licensed as a European Crowdfunding Service Provider by the Bank of Latvia, plays a critical role. Our stack combines regulated financial infrastructure with modern software engineering. The gap between those two things is exactly where this role lives.

The Role

We're looking for a Platform Engineer who wants to own the infrastructure that makes everything else possible. You'll build and maintain the systems our engineering teams rely on every day — CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, data tooling, AI integrations, and developer experience as a whole. This isn't a "keep the lights on" role. You'll design systems from scratch, introduce new tools, and have a direct say in how we build software.

What You Will Work On

  • Architect and manage our cloud infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes.

  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, and internal platforms.

  • Evaluate, integrate, and roll out new tools and services across the company.

  • Partner with product and business teams to remove bottlenecks and ship faster.

  • Own production systems end-to-end — from design decisions to incident response.

  • Raise the bar on security, observability, and engineering standards.

What you need to be successful

We care far more about how you think than what you already know. Languages and tools can be learned — curiosity and drive can't.

  • You're a pragmatist. You find the simplest solution that actually works, not the most impressive one.

  • You're comfortable with infrastructure. You have hands-on experience with containers, orchestration, and cloud platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, or similar).

  • You write clean, maintainable code. We mostly work in Kotlin and TypeScript, but we won't filter you out over a language.

  • You communicate well. You can explain technical decisions to non-technical people and collaborate across teams without friction.

  • You want to grow. You're not looking for a role where you do the same thing every day. You want to stretch.

Bonus points for

  • Experience with financial services, payments, or regulated environments.

  • Familiarity with managing micro-services running on JVM runtime.

  • A track record of driving projects from idea to production.

  • Experience working in distributed / remote teams.

Benefits

  • We see ourselves as “distributed first” but also have a beautiful office in Berlin where you can work.

  • We are flexible and cover whatever you need to be as productive as possible (e.g., MacOS, IntelliJ IDEA, Claude Code).

  • Home office stipend.

  • 30 days’ of time off.

  • Meaningful equity.

  • Open-minded and transparent culture that includes regular get-together meetings (e.g., All Hands, Brown Bag Lunch, Offsites).
