The listing
Spreetail's Platform Services team bills warehousing, fulfilment, freight, and other operational costs to our customer brands, many of which are based in China. We are looking for a detail-obsessed, bilingual Finance Assistant to own the weekly billing cycle for these accounts; pulling data from multiple systems, building it into clean, accurate spreadsheets, checking it against contract terms, and getting invoices approved and out the door to customers on time, every time.
This is a hands-on, high-volume, high-accuracy role. You will be the last line of defence before an invoice reaches a customer, so a sharp eye for numbers and an instinct for when something “looks off” are essential. Because our customers in this segment are Chinese brands, fluency in Mandarin is required to communicate with them directly and resolve queries smoothly.
How you will achieve success:
- Produce detailed invoices for Platform Services customers, with supporting documentation in line with contracted terms.
- Pull billing and cost data from multiple systems and teams (Outbound, Operations, Warehouse) each week and consolidate it into a sensible, well-organised format.
- Check every billing file and invoice for formula accuracy, internal consistency, and alignment with the contract before it moves forward, including a final sense check for anything that looks unusual.
- Submit billing files and invoices for internal approval, then issue approved invoices directly to customers.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on invoice calculations, queries, and contract terms. Work closely with Platform Services account managers to investigate and resolve customer billing queries. Communicate directly with Chinese-speaking customer contacts in Mandarin to clarify billing details and resolve issues.
What experiences will help you in this role:
- Highly intelligent, diligent, and detail-obsessed, comfortable being the final check before money moves. Able to work to tight, non-negotiable deadlines.
- Confident working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working with high volumes of data across multiple sources. Experience creating invoices or other customer-facing financial documents. Understanding of a P&L and how billing feeds into it.
- Highly proficient in MS Excel (formulas, lookups, and large data sets).
- Fluent in English and Mandarin, spoken and written, to a business standard. Able to work UK hours (8:15–17:15)
