The Land Technician I/II supports the Land Business Development Sub-Department by managing Well Elections, Well Project Proposals, Contract Exhibit integration, and provides administrative and technical support. Responsibilities include reviewing contract obligations and recommending actions for new agreements and assists in closing and post-closing activities.  Also responsible for coordinating internal approvals and processing of contracts. The role also analyzes data to confirm ownership status. Additional duties include coding invoices, responding to 3rd party inquiries in coordination with internal teams, and supporting overall land operations through accurate reporting and data management.

 

The Land Technician I/II responsibilities includes but are not limited to:

  • Review operated and non-operated projects and proposals, and ensure contract compliance with proposals and election procedures.
  • Draft contract exhibits, conduct cursory due diligence on leases in trades and Joint Operating Agreements, .
  • Assist opportunity creation by compiling available title and providing to support Land Business Development.
  • Maintain data integrity.
  • Analyze data to assist Land Business Development Agents in transactions.
  • Handle coding of departmental invoices and other related expenses.
  • Coordinate with Land Business Development and Owner Relations team to respond to 3rd party requests or disputes.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to Land Business Development.

 

Required Experience and Skills:

  • High School Degree/GED. 
  • 0-4+ years of experience in land administration, land analysis, or oil & gas operations.
  • Familiarity with land systems, GIS/mapping tools, and regulatory databases.
  • Understanding of oil & gas leases, title, and HBP concepts.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data management tools.

 

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, or related field. 
  • 5+ years experience in similar role / responsibilities.
  • Membership in AAPL (American Association of Professional Landmen) or similar organization.
  • Proficiency in Quorum: Experience using the Quorum platform for land management tasks, including tracking ownership records, managing lease data, and generating reports.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce: Strong working knowledge of Salesforce CRM, with the ability to manage and analyze contact and negotiation data. Skilled in tracking stakeholder interactions and supporting lease acquisition and campaign execution.
  • Preference for candidates residing in the Appalachian region. 

 

Remote work is being considered for this role excluding the following states:  California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Tennessee unless willing to relocate.
