Senior Software Engineer – Firmware (Engineer to Senior roles)

The Software team at Ethernovia builds cutting-edge software systems tightly integrated with our hardware communication and acceleration solutions. We own the full stack — Software Modeling, Applications, SDK, Middleware, OS Kernel Drivers, Firmware, Compilers, Micro-code, Frameworks, Tools, Infrastructure, and Evaluation/Test Platforms — engineered for automotive-grade, safety-critical systems and qualified to the highest standards, including MISRA, AUTOSAR, and ASPICE.
About the Role
You will be responsible for embedded firmware for Ethernovia's networking devices — firmware that configures, controls, and monitors the communication device, and interacts with the host system via device drivers to expose hardware features.
As part of the Software team, you will own the architecture, design, implementation, testing, and integration of firmware that rolls into Ethernovia's SDK, built ground-up for safety-critical automotive applications. We build products with strict adherence to Functional Safety, and every team member is expected to embrace a culture of safety and engineering best practices.

Considered on a case-by-case basis. Willingness to relocate to Pune is highly desirable.
Technical Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Work experience: 5+ years
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including architecture, implementation, and testing fundamentals.
- Proficient in C/C++; experience with Python is a plus.
- Experience with firmware development, preferably for communication devices such as Ethernet.
- Experience with embedded firmware, preferably for communication devices such as Ethernet.
- Experience with integration and testing of firmware and low-level code.
- Hands-on experience with hardware and embedded processors, preferably for communication devices.
- Expertise in efficient coding practices for code footprint and performance.
Nice to Have
- Experience with simulation and emulation platforms.
- GNU or similar compiler and debugging suite.
- Embedded programming experience with hardware buses such as I2C, SPI, Ethernet, USB.
- Experience building automotive or other safety-critical systems using qualification methods/processes such as MISRA, ASPICE, and ISO 26262.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as Ethernet MAC, PHY, Switching, TCP/IP, Security, SerDes, PCIe, NTB, and SR-IOV.
- Experience with code version control and review tools/processes such as Perforce/Git and Swarm.
- Experience with automation and DevOps tools such as Jenkins.
- Exposure to mixed-signal systems — analog, digital, and digital signal processing (DSP).
- Experience with ARM or similar embedded processor families.
- Experience with bootloaders such as U-Boot or similar.
