The Opportunity

Praxis is hiring a highly motivated, detail-obsessed Senior Manager, Congress Operations, to lead our planning for medical and scientific congresses. You will own the congress portfolio end-to-end: setting plans and timelines, managing vendors and budgets, driving cross-functional execution, and ensuring a high-quality onsite experience.

You will partner closely with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Sales, Communications, and Legal / Compliance to bring our science, story, and patient mission to life in a way that is on-brand, compliant, and high impact. You will also lead and develop a Meeting Planner, establishing clear ownership and backup coverage across the portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Own the congress portfolio. Lead planning and execution for medical and scientific congresses—including AAN, AES, EEC and MDS—as well as meetings in the US and abroad. Establish clear objectives, plans, owners, timelines, and measures of success.
  • Drive disciplined cross-functional execution. Maintain the integrated congress calendar and critical-path milestones across abstracts, exhibits, housing, registration, freight, and print. Align stakeholders on decisions and dependencies and escalate conflicts early enough to protect delivery.
  • Lead and develop the team. Manage the Meeting Planner, setting priorities, ownership, and high standards for execution. Build redundancy and onsite coverage so critical congresses never depend on a single person’s availability or knowledge.
  • Own vendors and budgets. Lead relationships with meeting management, exhibit/booth, A/V and production, freight, and housing/registration partners. Set expectations and checkpoints, enforce lead times, hold vendors accountable for performance, and track spend against plan.
  • Deliver seamless onsite execution. Oversee staffing, materials, production, logistics, and real-time troubleshooting. Support speaker engagement logistics, including travel, honoraria, and contracts, in partnership with Medical Affairs and Legal/Compliance.
  • Raise the bar with every congress. Capture performance, stakeholder feedback, and lessons learned and turn them into concrete improvements for future events.
  • Operate with a strong compliance mindset. Execute congress activities in partnership in accordance with applicable requirements, including the PhRMA Code, Sunshine Act/Open Payments, and fair-market-value requirements.

Qualifications and Key Success Factors

  • 8+ years of experience leading events or congresses in life sciences, biotech, healthcare, or a similarly regulated environment, including direct experience with large-scale medical or scientific congresses.
  • Demonstrated people-management experience, or clear readiness to lead and develop a direct report.
  • Proven ownership of congress budgets and third-party vendors, including scope, timelines, performance accountability, and escalation.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex workstreams without losing the details that matter.
  • Strong judgment and ownership—you anticipate issues, raise them early, and solve problems rather than waiting for direction.
  • Clear, direct communicator who works effectively across functions, geographies, and time zones.
  • Comfortable moving quickly as priorities change while maintaining a high bar for quality and execution.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry compliance requirements is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally around the congress calendar.
  • The physical and mental requirements of our roles include but are not limited to regular use of a computer, devices or other office equipment, clear communication, and occasional movement. You'll need comfort with screen work, basic hand coordination, and focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.
