About the Role

Correlation One is seeking a Japanese Translation Editor to review and refine technical learning content for our Data Center Technician (DCTN) program. You will work with English originals and AI-generated Japanese drafts to produce clear, accurate, natural Japanese lessons, assignments, and quizzes.

This role requires strong editorial judgment: recognizing when English sentence structure, organization, or phrasing does not work naturally in Japanese and rewriting it while preserving the intended meaning and learning purpose. You will make changes directly in Codio, our learning platform, and work with subject matter experts to verify technical terminology.

Technical Learning Content | Part-time contractor | Remote

Expected commitment: 10–15 hours per week | Start: As soon as possible

Key Responsibilities
  • Review AI-generated Japanese translations against English source content, correcting errors, omissions, unnatural phrasing, and inconsistent terminology.
  • Restructure sentences and passages where needed so explanations and instructions are clear and appropriate for Japanese learners.
  • Preserve technical meaning, learning objectives, assignment requirements, and the intended meaning of quiz questions, answer options, and feedback.
  • Edit and check content directly in Codio, preserving formatting and the structure of lessons and assessments. Codio Training to be provided.
  • Review the existing Japanese style guide and glossary, apply them consistently, and update them as needed in consultation with the team.
  • Flag unclear or ambiguous English source content and consult subject matter experts when technical meaning or terminology needs verification.
  • Provide concise feedback on recurring translation issues so the team can improve translation guidance and future AI-generated drafts.
  • Manage assigned work independently, communicate progress and questions, and meet agreed deadlines.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Professional experience in English-to-Japanese translation and substantive Japanese editing, including rewriting for clarity, flow, and audience needs.
  • Excellent written Japanese and strong English reading comprehension, with the ability to recognize differences in English and Japanese writing conventions.
  • Ability to explain editorial decisions and preserve source meaning while adapting structure and phrasing.
  • Experience applying style guides and glossaries, researching terminology, and identifying issues that require clarification.
  • Comfort reviewing AI-generated translations critically and taking responsibility for the quality of the final Japanese content.
  • Ability to learn Codio and work directly in an online content platform.
  • Ability to work remotely and independently for approximately 10–15 hours per week, with reliable written communication.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience editing or localizing educational content, technical training, e-learning, or assessments.
  • Experience with IT, data centers, engineering, or related technical content. Technical expertise is helpful but not required; subject matter experts can support terminology verification.
  • Experience with Codio or comparable learning or content-authoring platforms.
  • Some availability during US Eastern Time business hours. This is helpful but not required; collaboration can take place asynchronously by email.
Optional Opportunity to Improve Translation Tools and Workflows

If you are interested, there is an opportunity to collaborate with the team on evaluating translation tools and improving an AI-supported translation workflow. Participation is optional, and prior experience designing these workflows is not required. Any use of AI or translation tools remains subject to human review and final editorial verification.

Application Materials

Please provide your resume and examples of English-to-Japanese editorial adaptation, with brief explanations of the changes you made and why. Where permitted, include the English source and Japanese before-and-after versions. Remove confidential information or use samples you have permission to share.

Where You Are Located
