Looking for Philippines-based candidates
Job Role: Project Manager/Coordinator
Compensation range: $2,000 AUD - $2,500 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 8 AM - 4 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.
Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.
Who The Client Is: An Australian residential construction business specialising in custom home builds, extensions, and renovations, helping homeowners create functional, well-designed spaces tailored to their needs. The business takes a personalised, hands-on approach to project delivery, with a strong focus on quality workmanship, practical design, and a smooth client experience from planning through to completion.
Role Overview: This role is ideal for a senior construction professional who understands the ins and outs of custom residential building and can work independently with minimal supervision. You will work closely with the business owner and on-site team to coordinate projects, keep schedules and documentation on track, resolve operational issues, and reduce the day-to-day administrative and project management burden on the owner.
The immediate priority is to establish strong project coordination and management processes, allowing the owner to focus on higher-value business activities. As trust develops and you demonstrate a strong understanding of the business, your responsibilities may expand to include estimating and supporting the preparation of fixed-price tenders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Coordinate multiple residential construction projects from planning through to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality expectations are met.
- Site Coordination: Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to keep projects moving and resolve issues promptly.
- Scheduling & Planning: Monitor project schedules, identify potential delays, coordinate upcoming works, and ensure trades and materials are organised ahead of time.
- Budget & Cost Control: Track project costs against budgets, identify potential cost overruns, and help protect profitability across fixed-price contracts.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate project records, update schedules, track variations, and provide clear progress updates to the business owner.
- Systems Management: Use Buildxact to manage project information, schedules, estimating data, and other relevant workflows.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline project workflows, improve communication, and reduce unnecessary administrative work.
- Estimating Support: As you become familiar with the business and its pricing approach, assist with estimating, take-offs, and tender preparation, with appropriate checks and oversight.
- Independent Problem-Solving: Anticipate issues, recommend practical solutions, and take ownership of day-to-day decisions within agreed parameters rather than relying on constant direction.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in project management or project coordination within the custom residential construction industry, particularly high-end homes and renovations.
- Experience with Buildxact is highly desirable. Candidates who have used comparable construction management software must be comfortable learning new systems quickly.
- Estimating experience in custom residential construction is an advantage, particularly for candidates familiar with take-offs, material costing, and fixed-price tenders.
- A strong understanding of Australian residential building processes, construction sequencing, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and cost control.
- Experience working with fixed-price construction contracts and an appreciation of how variations, delays, and inaccurate costs affect profitability.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently, prioritise competing demands, and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the confidence to coordinate site teams and communicate effectively with the business owner.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset, with the ability to identify problems early and follow through on resolutions.
- Strong attention to detail when handling project budgets, documentation, schedules, and cost-related information.
- Strong English skills to engage with the owner in online meetings, as well contractors and suppliers.
Work Arrangement & Expectations:
This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:
- Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
- Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)
