Solution Architect – VidiNet (Media Solutions)

About the Role

Vidispine GmbH is a leading solutions integrator with decades of successful delivery across broadcast, media, and sports industries. Our media asset management and broadcast solutions are deployed globally, supporting some of the most demanding content workflows.

We are looking for a Solution Architect to own the end-to-end technical design of VidiNet solutions for our customers across Europe and beyond.

This role combines architecture with hands-on delivery. You will shape solutions with customers before contract, define the target architecture, and then implement the complex parts of it together with the project team through testing and Go-Live.

What You'll Do

  • Own the solution architecture for VidiNet Media Asset Management engagements, from first customer workshop through Go-Live
  • Lead discovery with customers to understand business goals, existing landscape, and constraints, and translate them into a target architecture
  • Design end-to-end media workflows (ingest, processing, metadata, storage, distribution) that are scalable, secure, and maintainable
  • Define integration architecture with third-party broadcast and media systems, including Active Directory, scheduling platforms, playout, and content delivery networks
  • Produce architecture documentation: solution designs, integration specifications, deployment topologies, and non-functional requirements
  • Implement complex solution components hands-on together with the project team, including workflow configuration, scripting, and REST API-based integrations
  • Take part in system configuration, testing, and commissioning, working directly with customers through validation and Go-Live
  • Support pre-sales with technical scoping, effort estimation, and input to proposals, Statements of Work, and Change Requests
  • Identify technical risks, assumptions, and dependencies early, and define mitigations before they reach delivery
  • Act as technical authority for the project team, guiding Professional Services Engineers and resolving design-level issues
  • Review designs and implementations for alignment with the agreed architecture and VidiNet best practices
  • Deliver customer workshops, knowledge transfer sessions, and training
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to feed customer requirements into the roadmap and validate fit with platform capabilities
  • Contribute to reference architectures, reusable patterns, and continuous improvement of delivery methodologies

What You Bring

Experience & Background

  • 7+ years of experience in Professional Services, Solutions Engineering, or System Integration, including at least 3 years in a solution or technical architect role
  • Proven track record designing and delivering complex IT or media workflow solutions for enterprise customers
  • Experience supporting pre-sales: scoping, estimation, and contributing to commercial proposals
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience

Technical Skills

  • Deep understanding of broadcast and media workflows and media asset management concepts
  • Strong knowledge of video/audio codecs, metadata models, formats, and processing pipelines
  • Experience designing REST API-based integrations, event-driven architectures, and web services
  • Solid understanding of data modelling and SQL / data-driven systems
  • Hands-on programming/scripting skills for day-to-day implementation work (JavaScript, Java, Python, C#, or similar)
  • Experience with Linux environments, containers (Docker), and Kubernetes
  • Strong cloud architecture skills (AWS preferred), including storage, networking, security, and cost considerations
  • Ability to define and assess non-functional requirements: scalability, availability, performance, and security

Tools & Technologies (Nice to Have)

  • Cloud architecture certification (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect)
  • OpenSearch / observability stacks
  • GitHub and CI/CD pipelines
  • Infrastructure as code and configuration management (Terraform, Ansible, Chef)
  • Familiarity with architecture modelling approaches (e.g. C4, UML)

What Makes You Successful

  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to lead technical discussions with customer architects, engineers, and senior stakeholders
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical designs, and technical trade-offs into business-relevant terms
  • Sound judgement on scope: you can tell what the platform does out of the box, what needs configuration, and what needs custom work
  • Structured, pragmatic, and comfortable moving between architecture decisions and hands-on implementation
  • Collaborative mentor who raises the technical level of the delivery team
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to high-quality solutions
  • Fluent in English and German (written and spoken)

Additional Information

  • Willingness to travel occasionally (approx. 10%) for customer workshops and key project milestones (Europe and international)
  • Work in a dynamic, international environment with high-impact projects

Why Join Vidispine

  • Shape state-of-the-art media technology solutions for customers worldwide
  • Work in a highly skilled, collaborative team environment
  • Own the technical direction of complex, large-scale media workflows and integrations
  • Grow your career in a delivery-focused, innovation-driven organization
