About This Role:
The Legal Operations Specialist is part of the Legal team and reports to our Manager, Legal Operations & Investigations. As a Legal Operations Specialist, you will provide hands-on operational and administrative support to the Legal team, with a focus on reviewing and processing legal requests, preparing accurate and professional written communications, organizing and analyzing information, and supporting interactions with law enforcement and government agencies. You will partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Customer Support, and other cross-functional teams to help ensure legal requests are handled accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures.
This role is ideal for someone who is exceptionally detail-oriented, an excellent writer, intellectually curious, and eager to learn. You should be comfortable taking ownership of assigned responsibilities, working through complex information, and adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will also have opportunities to develop knowledge of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency transaction tracing to support legal and law enforcement matters. We are looking for someone who brings strong independent thinking and sound judgment to their work while remaining open to feedback, collaboration, and responsible use of emerging technologies, including AI.
Core Responsibilities:
Legal Document Review & Processing: Review, organize, and assist in processing subpoenas, court orders, warrants, and other legal requests. Carefully examine legal terminology, document details, deadlines, and requested information to identify discrepancies, missing information, or issues requiring escalation to Legal counsel.
Legal & Customer-Facing Communications: Draft clear, accurate, and professional written correspondence for legal matters, including communications with customers, law enforcement, government agencies, and internal stakeholders. Tailor communications to the intended audience while maintaining appropriate legal precision, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Law Enforcement & Government Agency Support: Assist with the intake, tracking, coordination, and preparation of responses to inquiries from law enforcement and federal agencies under the direction of Legal counsel. Help ensure responses are complete, timely, appropriately documented, and consistent with internal policies.
Blockchain Research & Transaction Tracing: Develop working knowledge of blockchain technology, cryptocurrency transactions, and available blockchain analytics tools. Learn to identify and trace transaction activity and organize relevant findings to support legal requests and law enforcement investigations, with appropriate training and oversight.
Data Management & Analysis: Use Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and other internal tools to track requests, maintain records, organize datasets, and identify relevant information. Synthesize complex or high-volume information into clear, accurate summaries that support legal review and operational decision-making.
Legal Operations & Administrative Support: Support day-to-day Legal team operations, including managing incoming mail, organizing and maintaining files, preparing routine legal filings and documentation, coordinating records, and assisting with other administrative activities as needed.
Accuracy, Confidentiality & Quality Control: Maintain meticulous attention to detail when reviewing documents, handling sensitive information, entering data, and preparing written materials. Identify inconsistencies, verify information against source documents, and escalate potential errors or concerns before they affect legal processes.
Ownership, Adaptability & Team Collaboration: Take initiative in managing assigned tasks, meeting deadlines, and proactively communicating updates or potential issues. Demonstrate a hands-on attitude, flexibility in responding to evolving priorities, and a willingness to support the broader team wherever needed.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience; backgrounds in Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, English, Communications, Business, or related disciplines are welcome.
Early career candidates are welcome. Relevant internships, academic projects, or administrative experience in legal, compliance, financial services, or other detail-oriented environments are a plus.
Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise, grammatically accurate, and professional legal and customer-facing correspondence. Must demonstrate strong original writing and critical-thinking abilities without excessive reliance on AI-generated content.
Outstanding attention to detail, especially when reading and interpreting dense, technical, or legally complex materials. Ability to carefully identify relevant terminology, requirements, inconsistencies, and important deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets, including organizing and filtering data, maintaining accurate trackers, and creating basic formulas and summaries. Ability and willingness to develop more advanced spreadsheet skills.
High level of professionalism, discretion, integrity, and sound judgment when working with sensitive or confidential information and communicating with external parties.
Growth mindset and intellectual curiosity, with a demonstrated willingness to learn new concepts, accept constructive feedback, and continuously improve the quality of work.
Genuine interest in cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and the legal and regulatory landscape of digital assets. Prior blockchain tracing experience is not required, but enthusiasm for learning investigative tools and techniques is essential.
