Keep the roadmap clear, the backlogs ready and AI product delivery moving.
ICS.AI is a UK AI consultancy delivering AI transformation to the public sector, local government, higher education and the wider public estate. Our SMART AI products help organisations improve resident and staff experiences through conversational AI, copilots, automation and intelligent insights.
We are hiring a Product Manager to sit at the operational centre of our product function. You will maintain the combined roadmap and backlogs across the SMART AI product range, turn agreed priorities into well-organised and scheduled work, and keep Product, Delivery and Engineering aligned from refinement through to release.
This is a hands-on coordination and delivery role for someone who enjoys bringing structure to competing priorities. You will not need to own every product decision yourself; you will make sure agreed decisions are translated into clear, buildable work and carried through consistently across products and teams.
What you’ll be doing
- Maintaining the combined roadmap across SMART AI products and keeping product backlogs ordered against agreed priorities.
- Facilitating cross-product backlog refinement and sprint planning with Product Specialists.
- Preparing prioritisation recommendations and carrying agreed decisions through into scheduled work.
- Checking that work items are complete, estimated and ready before they enter a sprint.
- Coordinating between Product, Delivery and Engineering, tracking progress and keeping priorities and status aligned.
- Maintaining and sequencing engineering work queues, with clear visibility of capacity, dependencies and work in progress.
- Maintaining the shared platform backlog and tracking dependencies between the platform and the products built on it.
- Coordinating client UAT and tracking work through to release.
- Producing clear roadmap, progress, queue-status and backlog-health reporting.
What makes this role different
You will work across a connected family of AI products rather than managing a single isolated backlog. The role combines product operations, delivery coordination and practical judgement about GenAI and agentic AI. Your impact will be visible in the quality of the work entering delivery, the flow of work across teams and the clarity of the roadmap for the wider business.
What we’re looking for
We are not screening on a specific degree or qualification. We care about evidence that you can bring structure, judgement and momentum to product delivery:
- Experience maintaining a product backlog or roadmap in a Product Manager, Product Owner, Business Analyst or similar delivery role within technology, AI or software.
- A structured and organised approach to competing requests across several products or teams.
- Confidence working with product, client-facing, delivery and engineering colleagues, including facilitating planning and refinement sessions.
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing work items, acceptance criteria, estimates and dependencies.
- A practical understanding of how software is designed, built and released.
- Working knowledge of GenAI, large language models and agentic AI, sufficient to discuss feasibility and sequencing.
- Clear written communication and disciplined decision recording.
- Eligibility to work in the UK. We are not able to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
Nice to have
- Experience with Azure DevOps Boards, delivery plans or equivalent tooling.
- Experience with Scrum, Kanban or flow-based work management.
- Exposure to AI-assisted or agentic software delivery.
- Experience of SaaS products, cloud platforms or shared platform dependencies.
- Experience of local government or wider public sector service delivery.
Qualifications and development
Formal qualifications are not required. We support relevant professional development and qualifications that help you grow in the role.
The package
- Salary up to £45,000.
- Full-time, permanent role.
- Remote within the UK, with occasional travel to Basingstoke and client sites.
- £100 per month working-from-home allowance.
- Vitality Healthcare Plan.
- Pension scheme.
- 25 days’ holiday.
- Support for relevant professional development and qualifications.
