Position Overview
MetroSys is seeking an experienced VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Deployment Architect to support a short-term enterprise infrastructure modernization project for a large public-sector organization.
This consultant will be responsible for assessing the existing VMware environment, designing and deploying VMware Cloud Foundation infrastructure, and ensuring successful integration with the customer's networking, storage, and virtualization platforms.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on VMware architect with extensive experience deploying and managing enterprise VMware environments, including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, storage, high availability, and VMware Cloud Foundation.
This engagement will involve working alongside a dedicated NSX Architect and additional infrastructure consultants. Deep NSX expertise is not required, as networking and microsegmentation responsibilities will be handled by a separate specialist.

Assess existing VMware environments and identify technical requirements, dependencies, and deployment considerations.
Design and deploy VCF management and workload domains, including associated vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi components.
Perform infrastructure health assessments, troubleshooting, and remediation of VMware platform issues.
Configure and optimize VMware high availability, distributed resource scheduling, resource allocation, and storage integration.
Support VCF lifecycle management, including installation, upgrades, patching, and component compatibility.
Collaborate with the dedicated NSX Architect to ensure networking components integrate correctly with VCF infrastructure.
Assist with VMware operations management, monitoring, performance optimization, and capacity planning.
Support infrastructure automation using PowerCLI, PowerShell, or other VMware automation tools.
Develop high-level and low-level technical designs, deployment documentation, operational runbooks, and implementation procedures.
Provide technical guidance to customer infrastructure teams and assist with knowledge transfer.
Work closely with customer stakeholders, project leadership, and other technical consultants to meet aggressive implementation timelines.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of enterprise VMware virtualization and infrastructure engineering experience.
3+ years of senior-level VMware architecture, implementation, or technical consulting experience.
Strong hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, including architecture, installation, deployment, or lifecycle management.
Expert knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, HA, DRS, and enterprise virtualization technologies.
Experience designing and implementing VMware infrastructure in complex enterprise environments.
Strong understanding of storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, vSAN, and storage networking.
Experience with VMware infrastructure upgrades, migrations, health checks, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency with PowerShell, PowerCLI, or VMware infrastructure automation.
Ability to independently lead technical discussions, recommend solutions, and execute infrastructure deployments.
Strong documentation, communication, and customer-facing consulting skills.
Ability to work remotely with customer teams operating in the Pacific Time Zone.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation 9.
Experience with VMware SDDC Manager and VCF lifecycle management.
Experience with VMware Aria Operations / VCF Operations, including monitoring, logging, and capacity management.

Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code, automated provisioning, and self-service infrastructure.
Familiarity with VMware Site Recovery Manager, replication, backup, and disaster recovery.
VMware VCAP, VCDX, VCP-VCF, or other advanced VMware certifications.
Experience supporting government, public-sector, or highly regulated enterprise environments.
