The listing
Kpler is expanding into high-value verticals where its extensive coverage of commodities and related supply chains gives customers a competitive edge. North American inland transportation is a key focus, supporting US and Canadian crude oil exports via pipelines, as well as the transportation of marginal barrels and last-mile movements via barges and rail.
As Product Manager for North America Inland Transportation Monitoring, you will own the product end to end, from strategy and roadmap through to the first release and go-to-market. Working closely with the Commodities Product and Business Unit Leads, you will identify market opportunities, translate customer needs into product requirements and build a product that delivers actionable insights across North American inland transportation.
You will work closely with Engineering, Data, Sales, Marketing and Market Analysts to develop a reliable, data-driven product, establish trusted methodologies and ensure seamless data delivery through web applications, APIs and other distribution channels.
This is an individual-contributor role for an experienced product professional with a background in commodities, transportation or an adjacent B2B data/SaaS environment. It offers the opportunity to build a new product category on a strong data foundation, taking a pragmatic, iterative approach rather than managing an already mature offering.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead product discovery to identify unmet customer needs and develop innovative propositions for internal and external customers.
- Define the product strategy and roadmap for North America Inland Transportation Monitoring, prioritising development in collaboration with Product and Engineering teams.
- Drive the first product release and go-to-market strategy, contributing to positioning, packaging and pricing input, and working with Sales and Marketing to support launch and early adoption.
- Ensure seamless data delivery through web applications, APIs and other data distribution pipelines, working closely with Engineering and Data teams.
- Establish trusted data standards and methodologies, using recognised external frameworks where relevant to ensure the product becomes a reliable reference source for customers.
- Develop product positioning and competitive strategy, monitoring the North American inland transportation landscape and differentiating Kpler through its independent approach and real-time data infrastructure.
- Collaborate across Product, Engineering, Data, Sales and Marketing to align teams around product development, customer value and go-to-market execution.
- Implement product governance best practices and agile methodologies, maintaining effective prioritisation and delivery processes.
- Analyse market feedback, delivery progress and product risks, keeping relevant stakeholders informed of roadmap trade-offs and potential challenges.
Skills & Experience
- At least 7 years of product management or commercial experience in the commodities and transportation industries, or a closely related B2B data/SaaS business, with a track record of delivering products that customers adopt.
- Strong understanding of the commodities and transportation data landscape, including the wider competitive environment.
- Proven ability to translate customer needs into product direction and deliver solutions in close collaboration with Product and Engineering teams.
- Experience with product discovery, roadmap prioritisation and data-product delivery.
- Understanding of go-to-market planning, including product positioning, packaging and pricing input.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work with databases and use complex data to develop impactful products.
- Experience working across cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven products.
- Fluency in English.
- A rigorous, problem-solving approach, with the ability to operate independently and take ownership of outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and commercial teams, including senior external stakeholders.
- A pragmatic, action-oriented mindset, with the ability to operate in an ambiguous, early-stage environment and iterate towards product-market fit.
Nice to have
- Direct experience in pipelines, rail or barges, rather than only adjacent transportation segments.
- Experience launching a new product line rather than solely managing an established offering.
- An established network across commodities trading houses, producers, operators or funds.
- Understanding of the regulatory environment shaping North American pipeline, rail and barge transportation.
