About the Role
We’re looking for a Recovery Specialist to manage uninsured and contractual recovery claims, including motor vehicle accidents, unreturned rental vehicles, and related losses arising from rental agreements.
You’ll investigate the basis for recovery, review supporting documents, and work directly with responsible parties to resolve outstanding obligations. This role requires strong negotiation skills, sound judgment, and a respectful, practical approach to difficult conversations.
What you'll do
Manage uninsured and contractual recovery files, including accidents and unreturned rental vehicles, from initial review through resolution.
Review claim documents, rental agreements, vehicle return records, liability information, and loss amounts to establish a clear basis for recovery.
Locate and contact responsible parties, explain outstanding obligations, and address questions or disputes professionally.
Negotiate settlements and payment arrangements within your authority, considering individual circumstances and ability to pay.
Monitor payment plans, follow up on missed payments, and determine appropriate next steps.
Identify files requiring further investigation, management review, or referral to approved collection or legal partners.
Maintain accurate records of communications, negotiations, payments, and decisions.
Work closely with claims handlers, rental operations, and recovery teammates to confirm vehicle status, resolve missing information, and move files forward.
Meet recovery, service, quality, and productivity goals while following company policies and applicable requirements.
Share ideas that improve recovery processes and the experience of people interacting with our team.
What you'll bring
Experience in insurance claims, recoveries, subrogation, collections, or a related customer-facing negotiation role.
Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive or difficult conversations calmly.
A practical approach to negotiation, balancing recovery opportunities with realistic outcomes.
Strong organization and follow-up skills, with experience managing multiple files and deadlines.
Attention to detail and confidence reviewing documents, calculating balances, and recording decisions.
Comfort working with claims systems, spreadsheets, and digital communication tools.
Integrity, empathy, and good judgment when handling personal and financial information.
Nice to Have
Experience with motor claims and uninsured motorist recoveries.
Familiarity with liability assessment, recovery documentation, and payment plan management.
Experience recognizing financial hardship and handling disputed claims.
What Success Looks Like
You build a well-managed portfolio, secure sustainable recovery outcomes, and keep clear, timely records. You communicate respectfully, exercise sound judgment, and know when to resolve a file independently or ask for support.
