Project description
Our client is the digital dispatcher for over‐the‐road trucking — a system that sits where the dispatcher sits and does the job at machine speed, around the clock.
## The problem
U.S. trucking moves roughly $580B a year across ~750,000 motor carriers. The mid‐sized operators — fleets running 20 to 200 trucks — are where the real leverage sits: big enough to matter to the network, small enough that every truck has to earn its keep.
They’re still operating the same way they did a decade ago: a handful of dispatchers, multiple load boards open, a phone that never stops, and a TMS that mostly records what already happened.
Now brokers have pointed AI at them. Hundreds of brokerages are running outbound voice agents, each pushing massive call volume into the same pool of carriers. Dispatchers stop optimizing and start reacting. Revenue per truck hasn’t moved in a decade — not because trucks got worse, but because the humans running them are saturated.
## What we’re building
Felix is the digital dispatcher: a system that sits where the dispatcher sits and does the job continuously, at machine speed.
**v1:** a sourcing agent — ingesting live load data, scoring opportunities against real constraints (position, hours, schedule, rate floor), negotiating against market signals, and returning clean decisions.
**Longer term:** we’re building the agent‐to‐agent communication layer that replaces voice entirely. Today, brokers and carriers are forcing AI through phone systems designed for humans. That’s a workaround. Felix’s end state is direct, structured negotiation between systems — auditable, fast, and grounded in real market data
Technology Stack
TypeScript monorepo, Next.js + React, NestJS, Postgres + pgvector, durable workflow engine, Claude at the model layer.
Position requirements
- Senior full-stack engineer, experienced in shipping TypeScript systems end-to-end.
- Have built non-trivial systems with LLMs (tools, retrieval, multi-step agents, evaluation).
- Event-driven microservices, DDD in mind.
- Comfortable taking an agreed problem or surface from definition through delivery.
- Based in or near Prague and available for regular in-person collaboration sessions with the team, scheduled by mutual agreement, while managing your own working time and setup outside those sessions.
Position responsibilities
## What you’d work on
This is greenfield product work on real systems problems, with meaningful ownership across ongoing workstreams:
- **Real-time market ingestion.** Load data is fragmented, duplicated, and expires quickly. Turning it into something an agent can reason over — and keeping it fresh enough to act on — is a core problem.
- **Durable agent execution.** Negotiations span multiple steps and external systems. They must survive retries, deploys, and partial failures without breaking state or creating bad outcomes.
- **Protocol design.** The long-term system is not just prompts — it’s schemas, identity, trust, and negotiation rules between agents.
- **Evaluation and observability.** When the system is making decisions about money, you need tight feedback loops and clear visibility into behavior.
- **End-to-end ownership.** From ingestion to UI, shaping both system design and product direction for the areas you take on.
Why this engagement
You’ll act as a senior engineering counterpart — taking responsibility for a meaningful product surface and helping shape the system architecture early.
The team has deep experience in freight and has built and exited companies in this space. The broker side of freight AI is crowded; the carrier side — where the operational pain actually sits — is still open.
This is a chance to work on a system that directly touches real-world operations, not internal tooling or incremental features.
