- Lead the development and delivery of MarTech data pipelines, integrations, and customer engagement solutions across mParticle, Braze, and Databricks.
- Build and optimise batch and streaming data pipelines, APIs, webhooks, event schemas, and data models.
- Ensure solutions meet requirements for scalability, resilience, security, observability, and cost efficiency.
- Establish and maintain engineering standards across code quality, peer reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, release management, and rollback processes.
- Guide the implementation of mParticle and Braze capabilities, including SDK instrumentation, identity resolution, event tracking, audiences, Liquid personalisation, and Connected Content.
- Work with Product Owners and Agile Delivery Managers on feasibility, estimates, technical priorities, dependencies, and delivery risks.
- Set up monitoring, alerting, and data-quality checks to track pipeline performance, integrations, and customer engagement data flows.
- Lead incident response and root cause analysis, ensuring issues are resolved and preventive measures are implemented.
- Ensure integrations follow data privacy, consent, security, and governance requirements, including GDPR and relevant data protection policies.
- Coach and mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and onboarding.
- Identify opportunities to use GenAI and automation to improve engineering productivity while following security and governance standards.
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or MarTech, including technical leadership and mentoring engineers.
- Hands-on experience delivering production solutions using mParticle, Braze, and Databricks.
- Strong understanding of MarTech ecosystems, customer engagement platforms, event tracking, identity resolution, and customer data models.
- Experience building and optimising batch and streaming data pipelines using SQL, Python, PySpark, and Delta Lake.
- Familiarity with dbt for data transformations and orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
- Experience designing and delivering secure, resilient API, webhook, and event-driven integrations.
- Strong understanding of engineering practices, including version control, CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, and release management.
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and improving reliability across distributed data systems.
- Knowledge of data privacy, consent management, GDPR, and data governance requirements.
- Ability to translate business and marketing requirements into technical solutions and communicate trade-offs clearly.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to influence Product, Marketing, CRM, Data, InfoSec, and external vendors.
- A pragmatic approach to technical leadership, balancing delivery speed with engineering quality and architectural standards.
Desirable
- Experience with AWS services, Splunk, and CloudWatch for monitoring and operational support.
- Familiarity with Braze Canvas, API-triggered messaging, Liquid personalisation, and Braze Currents.
- Experience with mParticle Live Stream, connection rules, data filters, and event forwarding policies.
- Knowledge of data reconciliation, consent synchronisation, data retention, and data subject request processes.
- Experience working with Agile delivery teams and contributing to engineering guilds or technical communities.
- Practical experience using GenAI tools for code generation, data modelling, documentation, and engineering workflows.
