About the Client
A fast-growing, creator-powered social and monetization platform empowering creators, artists, and brands to engage their audiences, monetize digital content, and build direct, high-value fan relationships. We operate at the intersection of consumer social, digital media, creator monetization, and agentic AI.
Mission
Lead reliable, secure, and cost-effective cloud operations so Fanbase teams can release with confidence and creators can rely on the platform.
The Role
The project needs clear ownership of its infrastructure, deployment workflows, and production readiness across web, mobile, and backend services.
As a hands-on technical lead, you’ll strengthen AWS operations and incident response while partnering with the Principal Platform Engineer on architecture and shared engineering standards. You’ll also guide operational priorities and coach engineers, helping the team improve reliability without slowing delivery.
What You’ll Achieve in 12–18 Months
Establish clear service objectives, actionable alerts, and incident ownership.
Improve deployment frequency, change failure rate, and recovery time against established baselines.
Validate backup restoration and disaster recovery against agreed recovery targets.
Improve cloud cost efficiency, access controls, and infrastructure consistency.
What You’ll Do
Own AWS operations, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, environment configuration, and tested rollback procedures.
Lead on-call planning, incident coordination, observability, and capacity planning; ensure incident reviews lead to meaningful follow-up.
Strengthen IAM, secrets management, patching, backups, recovery drills, and cloud cost controls in partnership with Security and Engineering.
Set operational priorities, coach engineers, and maintain clear, useful runbooks.
Coordinate release readiness with QA and product teams.
What You’ll Bring
6+ years of DevOps, SRE, or cloud engineering experience, including technical leadership and ownership of production incidents.
Hands-on experience with AWS, Linux, networking, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and scripting.
Experience with Terraform or OpenTofu and GitHub Actions is preferred.
Experience setting service objectives and improving monitoring, disaster recovery, security controls, and cloud cost management. AWS certification is preferred.
Software development and automation experience, including the ability to build and debug code independently with or without AI coding tools.
Effective use of AI assistants and agents, with the judgment to review and test generated changes, protect sensitive data, and remain accountable for production operations.
What Success Looks Like in Your First 90 Days
Days 1–30: Audit infrastructure, incidents, access controls, delivery workflows, and cloud spend.
Days 31–60: Define service objectives and on-call plans, then address a high-priority operational gap.
Days 61–90: Test rollback and restoration procedures and present a roadmap for reliability and cost improvements.
Reporting and Partnerships
Reports to the Head of Engineering and leads delivery while coaching assigned engineers. Partners closely with the Principal Platform Engineer, Security, QA, and service owners.
