Job Summary:
Creative Chaos is seeking a diligent and knowledgeable Tax Specialist (Enrolled Agent) to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, advising clients on tax-related matters, and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax laws.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review U.S. individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns (Forms 1040, 1120, 1065, etc.)
- Advise clients on tax planning, compliance, and structuring matters
- Represent clients before the IRS in audits, appeals, and collection cases
- Assist in preparing responses to IRS notices and handling tax controversy matters
- Ensure timely and accurate filings with adherence to IRS and state-specific guidelines
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., accounting, legal) on tax issues
- Keep up to date with U.S. tax laws, international tax treaties, and IRS updates
- Support ITIN application and acceptance agent services (if applicable)
- Train junior staff or tax associates as needed
Requirements
- Must be an Enrolled Agent (EA) with current IRS credentials.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in U.S. tax preparation and consulting.
- Strong understanding of U.S. tax codes, especially for individuals and small businesses
- Experience with tax software (e.g., Drake, ProSeries, UltraTax, or similar)
- Familiarity with FATCA, FBAR, and foreign asset reporting.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks or other accounting software
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients.
- Proficient with taxation software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Experience with complex tax issues and strategies is a plus.
