About Us
As the Director of Accounting at meetalleyoop.com, you will play a pivotal role in driving financial strategy and operations to support the company's rapid growth and expansion in the cosmetics sector. Reporting directly to the CEO/COO, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting and financial management — including planning, forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting, tax and regulatory compliance, and risk management — for a fast-growing, omni-channel
Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy and Planning
• Develop and implement the company's financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.
• Lead financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
• Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and senior management team based on financial analysis and projections.
Accounting and Financial Operations
• Manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations and oversee the accounting and finance department.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Monitor cash flow, financial performance, and liquidity.
• Implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Debt Financing and Investor/Lender Relations
• Evaluate debt financing options, including assessing lenders and credit facilities.
• Manage relationships with lenders and financial institutions.
• Prepare and deliver regular financial reporting to lenders and investors.
• Support the analysis of new debt and equity financing opportunities (fundraising strategy is led by the founder/CEO).
Tax and Regulatory Compliance
• Own multi-state sales tax compliance across all 50 U.S. states, including timely filings and payments to avoid penalties.
• Oversee corporate compliance at the federal and state levels.
• Manage the annual tax filing process in partnership with the company's outside CPA.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations and laws.
Risk Management
• Identify and mitigate financial risks and opportunities.
Strategic Leadership
• Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, providing insights and recommendations on business strategy and operations.
• Collaborate with other department heads to drive company-wide initiatives and goals.
• Participate in strategic decisions regarding expansion, partnerships, and mergers/acquisitions.
Team Development
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting and finance department.
• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within the department.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior accounting or financial leadership role (e.g., Director of Accounting, VP of Accounting, Controller, or CFO), ideally at a smaller company generating approximately $10M–$50M in annual revenue.
- Deep experience in e-commerce for a consumer goods / CPG business, with a strong understanding of omni-channel operations across D2C, Amazon, and wholesale sales channels.
- Strong to advanced understanding of accounting for a consumer goods business, including inventory accounting principles.
- Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to translate financial concepts into strategic insights.
- Experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Experience preparing financial reporting for lenders and investors, and supporting debt/equity financing processes.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state sales tax compliance and corporate compliance requirements (federal and state).
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred..
