In this role, you will support a busy immigration law practice handling U.S. and Canadian immigration matters, working closely with an attorney to keep cases accurate, organized, and moving forward.
About the Role
As an Immigration Paralegal, you will take ownership of preparing employment-based and family-based immigration matters from information gathering through attorney-ready case assembly. Your work will directly reduce administrative bottlenecks by ensuring forms, supporting documents, letters, and case files are complete before final attorney review.
You will work independently in a remote setting while collaborating closely with an attorney in a small, lean practice. This is a strong fit for someone who understands immigration workflows, catches details others miss, and takes pride in handing over files that are organized, accurate, and ready for submission.
The working schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time.
Responsibilities
- Prepare complete employment-based and family-based immigration case files for attorney review and filing
- Complete and review DS-160 and DS-260 applications accurately using client-provided information and supporting documentation
- Build organized, review-ready case packages that minimize attorney rework and help cases move efficiently toward filing
- Generate immigration case documentation using Serenade immigration software
- Draft supporting letters and related case documents using established legal templates and standardized workflows
- Review supporting evidence for completeness, consistency, and alignment with application requirements
- Identify and resolve common DS-160 issues, including corrections, updates, and consular submission requirements
- Organize and maintain immigration records in OneDrive or comparable shared file systems so documentation is easy to locate and audit
- Track case preparation progress and maintain reliable workflows that support timely filings
- Flag missing information, inconsistencies, or potential documentation issues before cases reach final attorney review
Requirements
Must-Have:
- 1 to 2+ years of hands-on experience supporting U.S. immigration matters, with familiarity or experience in Canadian immigration processes
- Professional experience using Serenade immigration software; this is a non-negotiable requirement
- Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing DS-160 and DS-260 forms
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. nonimmigrant visa categories such as B1/B2, E-2, L-1, O-1, H-1B, and related classifications
- Experience preparing employment-based and family-based immigration applications and supporting documentation
- Strong written English skills and the ability to prepare accurate legal documentation from templates and established workflows
- Ability to work independently during Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Pacific Time, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and reliability
Nice to Have:
- Experience supporting both U.S. and Canadian law firms remotely
- Experience working directly with an attorney in a small or lean immigration practice
- Strong knowledge of consular processing workflows and common DS-160 correction or update scenarios
- Experience managing legal case documentation through OneDrive or similar cloud-based systems
