The listing
We're looking for an energetic Trainer who enjoys facilitating and knows how to make virtual training engaging. This is a fully remote role reporting to the Training Director, and most of the job is facilitation: leading frontline continuing education and leadership development sessions for employees and leaders across the organization.
The right person makes training fun, interactive, and useful. You know how to keep a virtual class engaged, read a room through a screen, check for understanding as you go, and spot when someone is lost before they fall behind. You understand adult learning theory, and every session follows the same pattern: teach the skill, give people a chance to apply it, and confirm they can actually do it before they leave.
Our instructional designers own course design. You'll partner with them and build the supporting pieces that make a session land: PowerPoints, activities, job aids, and practice exercises.
Responsibilities
Facilitation
- Lead live virtual training sessions for frontline employees, emerging leaders, and current leaders.
- Bring energy and keep sessions interactive using polls, chat, breakout rooms, whiteboards, role-plays, scenarios, and discussion.
- Apply adult learning principles in every session: teach the skill, have participants practice applying it, and confirm they can use it on the job.
- Check for understanding throughout using questions, teach-backs, practice, and quick assessments, not just at the end.
- Notice when participants are disengaged, confused, or falling behind in a virtual setting and adjust in the moment.
- Give participants clear, constructive feedback and coaching during practice.
- Flag participants who aren't demonstrating the skill to the Training Director and their manager, with specific observations.
- Adapt delivery for different experience levels and cultural backgrounds.
- Build and update PowerPoints, activities, job aids, and practice exercises that support courses built by our instructional designers.
- Partner with instructional designers, department leaders, and subject matter experts to keep content accurate and relevant.
- Share what you see in the classroom so content can be improved: what lands, what confuses people, and what's missing.
- Create simple reinforcement activities that help participants apply skills after training.
- Manage logistics for assigned sessions, including scheduling, participant communication, attendance, and completion tracking.
- Evaluate session effectiveness through participant feedback, observation, and demonstrated skill application.
- Keep training materials and records organized and current.
- Manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and keep the Training Director updated on progress and issues.
- 3+ years facilitating workplace training, employee development, or leadership development, with at least 2 years leading live virtual sessions.
- Proven ability to keep a virtual audience engaged using tools like polls, breakouts, chat, and whiteboards.
- Working knowledge of adult learning theory and how to apply it in the classroom.
- Experience checking for understanding in real time and adjusting when participants aren't getting it.
- Strong presence, energy, and communication skills. You make people want to participate.
- Ability to explain complex information simply and connect it to real job situations.
- Experience building presentations and learning activities to support a session.
- Strong organization and time management across multiple assignments.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, training and development, organizational development, human resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience facilitating leadership development, new manager onboarding, communication, coaching, accountability, or client experience training.
- Experience delivering multi-session development programs.
- Experience training geographically and culturally diverse teams.
- Familiarity with learning management systems and completion reporting.
