The listing
About the company
Our client is a fast-growing software company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Shape the shared infrastructure and engineering tooling that helps product developers release work quickly and with confidence. The role covers cloud environments, release automation and uptime practices as the platform grows.
What you'll do
- Own and evolve cloud infrastructure defined as code, treating it as an internal service for engineering teams.
- Create and maintain internal tooling, shared libraries and SDKs that give developers consistent ways to build and release software.
- Run release automation and short-lived test environments for each code change so deployments are simple and low risk.
- Improve platform reliability through service level objectives, auto-scaling and incident response.
- Strengthen monitoring and tracing so teams can see how systems behave in production.
- Tackle scaling problems in the data layer and compute, including database tuning and capacity automation.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- A solid infrastructure or backend background at a high-growth technology startup; experience only at very large established tech firms is not a fit, though a blend of large company and startup work is acceptable.
- Working knowledge of TypeScript and Node, enough to navigate an application codebase and make well-judged changes when needed, even if feature work is not your daily focus.
- Hands-on history setting up release pipelines and on-demand preview environments, ideally using Buildkite.
- Broad AWS expertise spanning compute, networking, data storage and access control.
- Background in reliability engineering, including SLOs, error budgets and handling production incidents.
- Strong command of Terraform and/or Pulumi, including reusable modules and automated change-review and deployment flows.
- Clear, careful writing for documenting intricate technical systems.
Bonus points
- Experience standing up monitoring and tracing setups for live production systems.
- Experience creating internal developer platforms, such as command-line tools, scaffolding or reusable frameworks that speed up engineering teams.
